What is Laser Genital Aesthetics?

The first laser applications related to gynecological diseases started in the 1970s. At that time, laser was first tried in the treatment of cervical condyloma, and then it found its place in the treatment of pelvic pathologies in laparoscopy, in the treatment of submucosal fibroids and polyps in hysteroscopy and in IVF treatments.

In this section “What are the areas of genital aesthetics with laser? For which purposes is genital laser used? You will be able to access detailed information on topics such as laser vaginal rejuvenation, urinary incontinence treatments, laser genital whitening, wart treatments, laser labioplasty and vaginal tightening”.

Laser Genital Aesthetics

Laser vaginal rejuvenation, laser applications to the genital area are most commonly used in genital aesthetics for vaginal tightening-tightening and rejuvenation or to increase sexual pleasure.

Carbon dioxide and Erbium YAG Lasers

Since the early 2010s, lasers have been used in genital aesthetic practice for vaginal tightening, Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) treatment, genital area lightening and genital area rejuvenation. CO2 and Erbium yag lasers are most commonly used in these areas.

Although the chromophore of both is H2O (water), their wavelengths are different from each other. In other words, after the laser light encounters water in the tissue, it turns into heat and causes a temporary injury to the tissue. Carbon dioxide and Erbium YAG lasers can be used in the treatment of different dermatologic problems and for cosmetic purposes.

What kind of effects does laser have on tissue?

CO2 and Er:Yag (Erbium YAG) lasers can be used in the genital area and other areas of the body for various functional and aesthetic indications.

They can be used in surgical applications such as excision (removal of tissue), incision (cutting), ablation (destruction), vaporization (vaporization) and coagulation (stopping bleeding) in soft tissue.

To this end, they have found their place in dermatology, plastic surgery, gynecology, ENT, interventional and endoscopic general surgery.

Laser Treatments

Co2 and Erbium YAG lasers have become an important tool in genital aesthetic surgeries and elimination of functional problems. Functional areas of use:

Treatment of urinary incontinence (Stress Urinary Incontinence, SUI) in patients without organ prolapse,

  • Vaginal tightening and vaginal rejuvenation treatments,
  • Increase sexual pleasure,
  • Facilitate orgasmic function,
  • Relieving the symptoms of menopause,
  • Treatment of vaginal dryness,
  • Treatment of recurrent vaginal infections,
  • Treatment of frequent vaginal yeast infections,
  • Vulvar Vestibulitis Syndrome (VVS) treatment,
  • Symptomatic treatment of genital lichen sclerosus
  • What are the genital aesthetic applications of laser?

    Laser's genital aesthetic application areas:

  • Discoloration around the genital area and anus,
  • Tightening and resurfacing around the genital area and anus,
  • Tissue cutting in operations such as labioplasty, vaginal tightening, hymen removal,
  • Treatments for genital warts, molluscum contagiosum,
  • Flesh mole, nevus, hemangioma treatments,
  • Skin striae and stretch mark treatments.
  • Advantages of Laser Genital Aesthetics

  • Does not require operating room conditions,
  • Not requiring general anesthesia,
  • Nearly no side effects,
  • It is very comfortable after the procedure, no need to rest,
  • The procedures are painless, painless and take a short time.
  • Laser Vaginal Tightening (Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation)

    Laser vaginal tightening procedure (Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation);

With the thermal (heating) and ablative (destructive) effects of laser light, the vagina is renewed and rejuvenated and the vagina is tightened.

Laser vaginal tightening, or “Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation” (LVR), is a fast and easy procedure to tighten, tighten and rejuvenate the vagina without the need for anesthesia and surgery. The word “rejuvenation” means “rejuvenation”.

Vagina loses its elasticity and expands due to births, hormonal changes and increased collagen destruction with advancing age. This can cause many problems in women. The most common problem is decreased pleasure and loss of sensation during sexual intercourse. In addition; frequent vaginal infections, gas coming out of the vagina, a constant feeling of abundance in the vagina are other problems seen. All these problems lead women to laser vaginal tightening procedures.

    How laser vaginal tightening works

A rod similar to an ultrasound probe is inserted into the vagina. The high-energy laser light emitted through this rod into the vagina starts an inflammation (inflammatory process) in the tissue. The body's reparative cells and cells called 'fibroblasts' migrating to the site of inflammation begin to work to regenerate the tissue. In this process, fibroblasts increase the production of 'collagen' and 'elastic' connective tissue. Thanks to the newly synthesized fresh connective tissue, the tissue is rejuvenated, renewed, tightened and blood circulation in the tissue increases.

Who can undergo laser vaginal tightening?

Laser vaginal tightening can be applied to all sexually active women who have problems with vaginal width and numbness during sexual intercourse. It is also known as “non-surgical vaginal tightening”. Approximately 3 weeks after the procedure, a tightening and sensation increase that can be felt by the woman herself and her partner develops.

In combination with laser vaginal tightening procedures, 'O Shot', a genital aesthetic procedure, can also be performed. The purpose of the O Shot procedure, known as orgasm vaccine, is to increase pleasure in sexual intercourse and facilitate orgasm function.

Who is vaginal laser not suitable for?

Vaginal laser application should not be performed in the following cases:

  • In patients with moderate and advanced pelvic organ prolapse,
  • During pregnancy,
  • Puerperium: Vaginal laser application can be performed 3 months after delivery. There is no objection to its application during breastfeeding.
  • During menstruation: Vaginal laser is not applied during menstruation due to vaginal wetness and susceptibility to infections.
  • In the presence of active HPV or HSV: It is not applied in the presence of active HPV or HSV infection as it may increase the spread of the infection.
  • In uncontrolled diabetes,
  • In those with impaired immune systems,
  • Psychiatric illness,
  • In patients with pathology in the smear test,
  • Genital cancer or suspected cancer,
  • In people with photosensitivity problems (photosensitivity).
  • What to Do Before Vaginal Laser

Pelvic examination and, if necessary, ultrasound evaluation are performed before vaginal laser. There should be no suspicion of cancer in ultrasound evaluations. Patients with severe infections in vaginal examination should first be treated for these infections. In addition, patients should not have any pathological conditions in smear tests performed within the last year.

If you have not had a smear test within a year, it will be useful to have a smear test before the procedure. Laser procedure is an extremely painless and comfortable procedure. However, in patients with a low pain threshold, a mild anesthetic effect can be achieved by applying numbing cream into the vagina 10-15 minutes before the procedure.

    Complications After Laser

No major complications have been reported after laser application. If the energy applied in CO2 lasers is high, the inflammation process may be prolonged. Infections such as previously undetected or subclinical bacterial vaginosis may become symptomatic after laser treatment. Such patients may experience decreased healing speed, edema and pain problems. On the other hand, in rare cases, complaints such as redness, pain and blistering at the entrance of the vagina may also occur. This is due to going beyond the vaginal border during the procedure.

Surgery should be recommended for patients who are not satisfied with vaginal narrowing or urinary incontinence despite 3 sessions.

    Additional Applications with Genital Laser

Vaginal tightening with laser can be performed together with procedures such as labiaplasty, vaginal whitening or genital aesthetics. Even in patients with urinary incontinence without vaginal enlargement and sagging problems; posterior wall vaginal tightening and anterior wall laser application can be combined.

Laser Vaginal Tightening Price Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir

The cost of laser vaginal tightening varies according to the center where the procedure is performed, the person performing the procedure and the number of sessions in cities such as Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir. It will be useful to contact the practice about pricing. Carbon dioxide lasers named Monalisa Touch, Bela Dona and Femilift are used in our practice.

    Laser Labiaplasty

Labioplasty surgery (inner lip aesthetics) is an operation performed to surgically reduce the sagging, large, irregular, dark-colored or wrinkled inner lips and to achieve a symmetrical and aesthetically smooth appearance. As an alternative to classical labiaplasty surgery techniques, cutting with laser technology is known as 'laser labiaplasty'. The aim is to ensure less bleeding. However, according to our laser experience since 2013, we do not recommend laser labiaplasty because it may damage the surrounding tissue and prolong the healing process.

    Laser Genital Area Lightening, Whitening

Requests for genital area bleaching by patients have been increasing rapidly, especially in recent years. Bleaching treatments are also referred to by terms such as 'vulvar bleaching' or 'pudenda bleaching'. However, the terms 'genital whitening' or 'vaginal bleaching' are not correct. As a matter of fact, the procedure is not whitening, but lightening in color tone, bleaching.

Why does darkening of the color in the genital area occur?

Darkening of the skin (hyperpigmentation) can occur due to excess pigment in the skin layers. Hyperpigmentation may be genetic or may occur later, such as drug use, chronic diseases, hormonal, post-inflammatory. Laser hair removal, waxing, application of chemical substances to this area can also cause darkening.

The most common causes of genital area discoloration are exposure to ultraviolet rays, solarium, use of birth control pills, PCOS, laser hair removal, waxing and smoking. Some systemic disorders and medications can also increase genital darkening.

What kind of problems does it cause?

Ano-genital discoloration procedures in women, and interestingly, in recent years, in men, have seen a rapid increase. Darkening in the genital and anal area can cause some social and psychological problems, especially insecurity in sexual intercourse.

What are the lasers that lighten color in the genital area?

The most commonly used lasers for the procedure are CO2 laser, Er:YAG laser and Q-switched lasers. Color lightening in the genital area occurs as a result of peeling of the upper layer of the skin as a result of ablation due to the thermal effect on the tissue with the fractional head of Er:YAG or CO2 lasers. Q-switched lasers, on the other hand, are able to lighten the color by acting on the melanin secreted by melanocytes in the basal layer. For this purpose, it is used in tattoo removal, café-au lait macules, birthmarks, melasma, freckles, age spots treatments.

The skin gets its color from dermal components, epidermal components and subcutaneous blood vessels. Therefore, whichever area the darkening belongs to should be targeted.

Before laser application, the energy and density parameters of the laser are adjusted according to the skin color of the person. Energy should be applied at lower doses in darker skin colors due to the risks of burns, scar tissue formation and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. In fair-skinned people, the dose may be slightly increased.

How to do genital area lightening with laser

The application area should be shaved. The procedure can be performed under sedation or local anesthesia. In the application, the genital area is first cleaned and dried with a disinfectant solution other than iodine solution (similar to chlorhexidine). Afterwards, the hyperpigmented area is enclosed in a rectangle with a marking pen and the area is scanned with a laser. The average treatment time is 5 minutes. Sessions can be repeated 2-3 times every 4-6 weeks when necessary.

A few days after decolorization with carbon dioxide and erbium laser, the epidermal skin turns brown and then peels off spontaneously. The underlying vibrant, bright and pinkish skin tissue will exhibit a younger appearance. However, there are dermal pigment components and vascular structures other than the epidermis that give the color of the skin. Therefore, the results obtained in everyone may not be equally satisfactory. Color lightening is around 30-35% on average. To increase the effectiveness, some color lightening mesotherapy products can also be injected into the skin in the same session.

Laser Genital Lightening, Post Bleaching Period

It is normal to have complaints such as burning, itching, stinging and pins and needles for a few weeks after the laser procedure. Topical anesthetics, cortisone-containing creams and scatrizans to be given after the procedure make this process more comfortable. Generally, there is no need for sexual intercourse. The next day you can take a shower with warm water and wash the genital area with soap. Painkillers can also be used if necessary.

Final results are seen on average 1 month after the procedure. A single session may be sufficient, or 2-4 sessions can be performed every 1-2 months if necessary. It is important to be protected from the sun for a month after laser genital bleaching. For this reason, it is more appropriate not to perform the procedure in the summer months.

If the energy of the laser is adjusted high during the bleaching procedures, it may cause complications such as permanent hypopigmentation, burns, scar formation, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (darkening of color).

    Laser Vaginoplasty

Vaginoplasty is a 'surgical vaginal tightening' operation performed because the vagina has lost its elasticity and widened. In vaginoplasty, triangular tissue is cut out from the back wall of the vagina. In vaginoplasty surgery, cutting and coagulating the tissue is performed with a laser instead of scissors and scalpel, which is called 'laser vaginoplasty'. However, it is necessary to know the tissue plans well and to have full control of the laser setting. Laser vaginoplasty surgeries are not frequently performed.

    Laser Orgasm Treatment: Anorgasmia Treatments

Orgasmic function is a complex process involving central, peripheral and environmental factors. The inability or difficulty in reaching orgasm despite sexual stimulation is called 'anorgasmia' or 'orgasmic dysfunction'. As with other sexual dysfunctions, the problems that need to be solved in anorgasmia are intertwined.

Clitoral Anorgasmia and Coital (Vaginal) Orgasm

Some women cannot reach orgasm at all through sexual intercourse or masturbation stimulation of the clitoris (clitoral anorgasmia), while others can only experience orgasm through masturbation (coital anorgasmia).

    Clitoral Anorgasmia:

The inability to orgasm in any way is usually due to lack of knowledge and experience, lack of exploration of the body, and various psychological factors from early childhood. In patients with both coital and clitoral anorgasmia, sexual therapies can make rapid progress.

    Coital Anorgasmia:

Patients who can have an orgasm with clitoral stimulation, but who cannot have an orgasm at all during sexual intercourse with their partners or have a very difficult orgasm are in the 'coital anorgasmia' group. In the treatment of these patients, in addition to sexual therapies, methods such as laser and radiofrequency can be used to stimulate collagen production, increase clitoral blood flow and increase the neural sensitivity of the genital area. The aim is to treat primarily the 'biological' component in the biopsychosocial model. Energy-based or regenerative therapies such as laser, radiofrequency, HIFU, stem cell applications are promising in this regard. Energy-based treatments reduce sexual pain and have positive effects on sexual pleasure, arousal and vaginal lubrication.

Treatment of Menopause Complaints and Vaginal Dryness with Laser

Laser also provides great benefits especially in the treatment of menopausal complaints and vaginal dryness.

What is Menopausal Genitourinary Syndrome (GSM)?

Menopausal Genitourinary Syndrome (GSM) includes complaints of epithelial changes in the entire genital area, urethra and bladder due to a decrease in estrogen and other sex steroids. It is also known as 'vulvovaginal atrophy (VVA)', 'urogenital atrophy', 'atrophic vaginitis'. Postmenopausal women sometimes experience all or some of these symptoms. The vaginal epithelium and urethral epithelium develop embryologically from the same 'estrogen-dependent' tissue origin. Therefore, the decrease in estrogen during menopause affects both areas together.

    Vulva, vagina, urethra and bladder are the most affected organs in GSM, which affects 50% of menopausal women. The most common symptoms are;

    Genital symptoms;

  • Vaginal dryness,
  • Itching, burning and irritation in the genital area.
  • Sexual symptoms;

  • Painful intercourse due to vaginal dryness,
  • Lack of arousal and difficulty having orgasms.
  • Urinary symptoms;

  • Frequent urinary tract infections,
  • urinary incontinence,
  • Frequent urination, feeling like urinating all the time and burning when urinating.
  • Quality of life and sexuality;

  • Decreased trust and sexual intimacy,
  • Sleep problems,
  • Deterioration of social functions.
  • The first-line treatment for GSM is the use of non-hormonal vaginal lubricants and vaginal moisturizers and the maintenance of sexual intercourse. In moderate and advanced levels, especially in patients with complaints of pain and burning in the genital area, pain during sexual intercourse, and complaints of urinary retention or urination, local estrogen treatments are very effective and well tolerated. In this way, the vaginal epithelium thickens, vaginal secretions increase, vaginal flora improves and vaginal PH decreases. In general, complaints of vaginal dryness and urogenital symptoms are reduced. However, fractional vaginal lasers can be used, especially in patients who have been treated for breast cancer or who are under follow-up for suspicious lesions in the breast, since estrogen therapy cannot be given.

    Patients who experience intense menopause-related complaints (GSM);

  • Estrogen hormone replacement therapies,
  • Genital aesthetics,
  • Laser treatments,
  • Hyaluronic acid injections,
  • SVF (Stromal Vascular Fracture) injections,
  • Some mesotherapy products may be preferred.

  • Vulvar laser applications can also be preferred for skin thinning in the external genital area.

    Laser Genital Wart Treatment

Genital warts can occur at any time of life in the external genital area and around the anus under the influence of HPV (Human Papilloma Virus). They are uncomfortable in terms of appearance and the risk of infecting a partner. Warts are removed medically or surgically. Laser genital wart treatment is performed under local anesthesia in a short time. The procedure is extremely painless, painless, and the risk of scarring is less than other methods. If necessary, the procedure can be repeated for several sessions.

    Laser Lichen Sclerosis Treatment

Lichen sclerosus atrophicus (Lichen sclerosis) is a chronic, inflammatory skin disease, thought to be autoimmune, which can cause thinning of the skin and many related complaints, especially in the genital area. It can involve the genital area, perineum and around the anus. Vaginal involvement is extremely rare. Although the actual frequency is not known exactly, it is thought to occur in one in every 59 women.

Women with lichen sclerosus may experience pain, burning, stinging sensation, itching, inability to wear tight pants, pain during sexual intercourse, lack of sexual pleasure, orgasm problems and burning during urination. If these patients are not treated, vulvar architecture gradually deteriorates. It is stated that the risk of cancer is between 2-6%. Cortisone-containing hormones can be used for a short time in treatment.

Fractional carbon dioxide lasers can also be used in the symptomatic treatment of lichen sclerosis. Re-igniting the inflammatory skin tissue with the laser and further increasing the inflammation can be likened to the logic of 'firefighters extinguishing the fire with fire'. This exacerbated inflammation process will be followed by a healing period. Patient satisfaction is quite high in laser treatment of lichen sclerosus.

    Laser Vaginal Rugation

Vaginal laser rugation is the creation of skin folds inside the vagina with laser. One of the most important points that increase pleasure during sexual intercourse is the mucosal folds called 'Ruga' in the vagina. These folds (vaginal rugae) increase friction and pressure during sexual intercourse and increase pleasure during sexual intercourse in both partners. In case of erasure or fading of the rugae due to reasons such as childbirth, aging and menopause, sexual pleasure decreases in both male and female partners. With a single session of laser treatment, the vaginal rugas can be made more prominent again.

    Laser Urinary Incontinence Treatment

Urinary incontinence means involuntary leakage of urine. Stress type incontinence means urinary incontinence in situations such as coughing and sneezing where intra-abdominal pressure increases. Laser treatment gives very successful results in the treatment of mild-moderate stress incontinence.

How to treat urinary incontinence with laser

The procedure is performed in the same way as laser vaginal tightening. The only difference is that the area scanned with the laser is the anterior wall of the vagina. The aim is to ensure collagen production, blood supply and regeneration of the tissue with laser shots aimed at the bladder base and urethra neck adjacent to the anterior vaginal wall. The whole process takes about 3 minutes on average. Depending on the treatment response, 2-3 sessions can be applied with an interval of 2 months.

Laser Urinary Incontinence Treatment Price Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir

The cost of laser urinary incontinence treatment varies according to the office where the operation is performed, the physician who performs the procedure and the number of sessions in cities such as Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir. It will be useful to consult with the practice about pricing and costs. Fractional carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers named Monalisa Touch, Bela Dona and Femilift are used in our Istanbul and Ankara practice.

    Laser Vaginal Tightening

Laser vaginal tightening tightens the vagina and rejuvenates it by renewing the tissues. The effect of the procedure is achieved by the thermal (heating) and ablative (destructive) effects of the laser light.

    What is Laser Vaginal Tightening?

Laser vaginal tightening is a new application performed for the purpose of renewal, rejuvenation and tightening of the vaginal tissue with the thermal (heating) and ablative effects of laser light. It has become widespread all over the world since the early 2010s. Laser vaginal tightening is also known as “Vaginal Renewal” and “Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation” (LVR). It is the process of tightening and rejuvenation of the vagina in an office environment without surgery, anesthesia, stitches and painlessly.

It is performed for reasons such as strengthening collagen connective tissue, increasing blood flow, increasing sexual pleasure and sensitivity, eliminating menopausal problems, eliminating frequent vaginal infections, facilitating orgasmic function. It also produces non-surgical solutions for urinary incontinence problems caused by increased intra-abdominal pressure.

    Why Vaginal Renovation is Performed

Vagina is a flexible organ composed of collagen and elastic connective tissue. The pelvic floor muscles around it are the biggest supporters of the vagina. With factors such as births, hormonal changes, increased collagen destruction and decreased collagen production with increasing age, muscle and connective tissue weaken and the vagina loses its flexibility. This situation can cause many problems in women.

The most common problem is during sexual intercourse. During intercourse, both the female and male partner may experience numbness; as the pleasure of sexual intercourse decreases over time, sexual reluctance may develop. Other problems we may encounter are frequent vaginal infections, gas coming out of the vagina during intercourse or physical exercise, and a constant feeling of an opening in the vagina. All these problems lead women to vaginal tightening procedures.

    What is laser in medicine?

LASER is an abbreviation of the English words 'Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation', which stands for 'light beam amplified by the intensification of stimulated radiation'. Laser technology dates back to Einstein's quantum theory in 1917.

The first practical laser adventure began with the 694 nm wavelength Ruby crystal laser developed by 'Maiman' in 1959. In the following years, the laser, whose use has increased considerably, has found its place in many medical and cosmetic fields.

Other Laser Treatments Other Than Vaginal Laser Applications

In addition to vaginal tightening, there are laser treatments for other cosmetic reasons. These are:

  • Labia majora, perineal and perianal area discoloration,
  • Labia majora and perineal area tightening, surface correction,
  • Tissue cutting in genital aesthetic operations such as lipoplasty, vaginal tightening,
  • Treatment of genital warts,
  • Scar treatments such as acne, burns,
  • Skin striae and stretch mark treatments,
  • Facial rejuvenation (anti-aging, wrinkle treatment, pore tightening, lifting).
  • Which patients are better suited for surgical vaginal tightening and laser vaginal tightening (LVR)?

There are two options that can be offered to the person who comes for vaginal tightening. The first one is surgical vaginal tightening. Surgical vaginal tightening operation is also known as 'Vaginoplasty' or 'Surgical Vaginal Rejuvenation'. In this operation, the patient receives anesthesia, rests at home for a few days and stays away from sports, pool and sexual life for about 4-6 weeks.

On the other hand, only the back wall of the vagina is narrowed. In vaginal tightening surgeries, pelvic muscles are brought closer together to provide support and fascia (protective sheath of the muscle) repairs are also performed. Surgical vaginal tightening should be considered in the first place, especially in patients with advanced vaginal width, bladder and bowel prolapse. In our practice, the entire posterior wall of the vagina is narrowed during surgical procedures.

Vaginal narrowing with laser can be considered in the first place in patients who do not have a large vaginal width, have mild sagging problems, and have sexual pleasure and orgasm problems in the foreground.

Laser vaginal tightening has multiple advantages. The first of these is that the procedure is painless and painless and therefore does not require anesthesia. In addition, since it is not a surgical procedure, there are no risks related to surgery, the patient can return to daily work and social life immediately after the procedure, and the ban on sexual intercourse is only 1 week.

LVR (Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation) can also be applied for vulvar vestibulitis, lichen sclerosus disease and the relief of genital complaints due to menopause. The table below compares surgical vaginal tightening and laser vaginal tightening procedures.

How laser vaginal tightening - LVR works

Laser vaginal tightening provides tightening of the vagina and rejuvenation of the vagina by renewing the tissues. This effect is achieved by the thermal (heating) and ablative (destructive) effects of the laser light. The thermal and ablative (destructive) effects of the laser cause a slight and temporary damage to the vaginal canal. Due to this temporary damage, an 'inflammatory' (inflammatory) response occurs in the tissue.

Reparative cells called 'fibroblasts', which attack the tissue exposed to energy, work to regenerate this tissue. In this process, fibroblasts increase the synthesis of 'collagen' and 'elastic' connective tissue. Thanks to the increased production of connective tissue, the tissue is rejuvenated, renewed and tightened.

LVR in Orgasm and Sexual Pleasure Treatments

Laser treatment also increases the blood supply to the tissue, making it younger and more neurologically sensitive. Laser is also used in sexual pleasure treatments with this effect. Especially the increase in vaginal anterior wall blood supply makes it easier to reach orgasm. Laser treatment, which increases vaginal wetting, provides narrowing on the one hand, and on the other hand, it increases the pleasure during intercourse by increasing neural stimulation. This is one of the reasons why patients prefer LVR.

Who is laser vaginal tightening suitable for?

Laser vaginal tightening can be performed on all sexually active women who are not virgins. Vaginal tightening can be a solution for couples who experience a feeling of enlargement and loosening during intercourse. These women have complaints such as 'I do not feel anything during intercourse with my partner'. At the same time, the male partner may have the complaint of feeling his penis in the void during sexual intercourse and not getting pleasure. This can lead to mutual sexual pleasure and desire problems.

About 3 weeks after laser vaginal tightening, both the male and female partner develops a noticeable tightening and increased sensation during sexual intercourse. The treatment has positive effects not only for the woman but also for the couple.

What are the purposes of vaginal laser?

Genital laser applications for vaginal tightening, rejuvenation and tightening have other advantages. In medicine, carbon dioxide and erbium yag lasers are used for this purpose. These reasons are listed below.

    Increasing sexual pleasure:

Laser vaginal tightening increases the feeling of pleasure and satisfaction during sexual intercourse in male and female partners. Orgasm problems in women can also be improved. This effect is especially achieved by increasing the blood supply in the anterior vaginal wall, as a result, the sensitivity and arousal effect increases considerably. For this purpose, genital PRF and HA (Hyaluronic acid) injections can be performed simultaneously with laser treatments. On the other hand, although there is no problem in sexual intercourse, laser sessions can also be performed to facilitate orgasm and increase sexual pleasure during intercourse.

    Vaginal dryness treatment:

Vaginal dryness is a serious problem, especially for postmenopausal women. Dryness can cause pain during intercourse, and sometimes it can cause burning and discomfort outside of intercourse. Vaginal laser treatment is an effective method in the treatment of vaginal dryness. With the effect of the treatment, the moisturization and wetting of the vagina increases due to increased vaginal blood circulation, and a rapid improvement is seen in the symptoms of the patients.

    Treatment of urinary incontinence:

Laser application can also be applied for treatment purposes in women who have urinary incontinence but do not complain of bladder prolapse or have mild prolapse. It can be a good solution especially for patients who experience urinary incontinence during coughing, sneezing and doing sports, that is, patients with stress type incontinence. There are many patients who have been saved from surgery in this way. Vaginal laser treatments can also be easily applied in age group patients.

Treatment of patients with frequent vaginitis (vaginal infection):

Some women are constantly suffering from vaginal infections despite continuous medication, suppositories and cream treatments. Vaginal laser applications can be very beneficial for such patients. Laser treatment can also be applied for treatment purposes in women who face frequent vaginal infections, recurrent fungal infections, as it increases immune resistance with its blood supply enhancing effect.

Treatment of thinning skin due to menopause:

Vaginal lasers are also effective in vaginal dryness and painful sexual intercourse problems that increase due to vulvovaginal atrophy (shrinkage of the genital area, thinning of the skin tissue), especially during menopause. The mechanism of action is realized by increasing collagen synthesis and new tissue formation.

Since local estrogen therapy cannot be used especially in women at risk of breast cancer, laser treatments are very promising in this patient group.

    Vulvar Vestibulitis treatment:

Sexual intercourse pain (dyspareunia) may be due to a condition called 'Vulvar Vestibulitis' (Vulvar Vestibulitis Syndrome). In this case, there is inflammation in the vestibulum area at the entrance of the vagina. In this case, sexual intercourse pain can be treated with therapeutic laser applications. The aim is to reduce the feeling of pain in this area by stimulating collagen synthesis in the vestibulum area.

    Lichen Sclerosus treatment:

Thinning of the skin tissue and related complaints such as burning, itching and stinging may be due to an autoimmune skin disease called 'lichen sclerosus'. In this disease, which has no definitive treatment, cortisone-containing creams are usually applied to alleviate the symptoms, but after a while they become ineffective. Laser therapy can be effective in the treatment of lichen sclerosus by stimulating new and healthy tissue formation and increasing blood supply. Genital radiofrequency technologies can also be used instead of laser for the same indication. You can contact our office about treatment methods on this subject.

Noise during intercourse, air coming out (Vaginal Flatus):

Some women complain of noises due to air coming out of the vagina during intercourse, exercise or lifting heavy loads. This embarrassing condition is usually due to a lack of vaginal tone (muscle tightness) and collagen. In this case, some energy treatments such as vaginal laser and radiofrequency treatments can produce a solution.

How laser vaginal tightening is performed

Fractional carbon dioxide (CO2) or Erbium yag (Er:YAG) lasers are generally used in laser vaginal tightening. Laser vaginal tightening is a painless and comfortable procedure that can be performed in an office environment and takes an average of 20 minutes. The entire vaginal canal is scanned transversely and longitudinally between 3-5 rounds. With an average of 80-120 mjoule/pixel energy, the tissue heats up to 50-60 degrees.

This procedure is completely painless and does not require any anesthesia. You can return to social life immediately after the procedure, no need for rest. For this reason, it is accepted as a 'lunch time' application.

Laser vaginal tightening Istanbul and Ankara

Since 2014, laser vaginal tightening procedures have been performed with CO2 fractional lasers in our Istanbul and Ankara offices.

Thanks to the Femilift CO2 robotic arm we use in our Istanbul European Side (Nişantaşı) practice, the procedure time is reduced to 3 minutes.

    Period after laser vaginal tightening

After laser vaginal tightening, you can return to social life immediately. Pinkish, watery bleeding is normal for the first few days after the procedure. Abundant, watery discharges may also be experienced for a few weeks. This is the process of self-renewal of the vagina during the inflammation period.

What should those who have laser vaginal tightening pay attention to?

Despite the millions of laser procedures performed to date, no major complications have yet been reported. There are no restrictions other than the 7-day sexual intercourse ban after the procedure. On the first day after the laser procedure, complaints such as fever, nausea, joint pain, headache and weakness can rarely be seen. In this case, you can take paracetamol group drugs in consultation with your doctor.

When will the effect be felt after laser treatment?

About 3 weeks after laser treatment, there is a noticeable tightening and sensitivity that can be felt by both male and female partners.

    Vaginal Laser Treatment Protocol

Treatments for vaginal rejuvenation, tightening and urinary incontinence are usually recommended 2 or 3 applications 1-3 months apart. The most effective results are obtained at the end of the 2nd or sometimes 3rd application. One more session can be performed one year after the procedure (reminder session). Since collagen production and destruction in the person continues in a continuous cycle, laser applications may need to be repeated every 2-4 years.

Laser vaginal tightening is a frequently preferred method in recent years. It is very satisfying and satisfying in the appropriate patient group. It is an extremely important advantage that it can treat the patient without surgery.

Who should not undergo laser vaginal tightening operation?

Laser vaginal tightening should be performed by gynecologists who are experienced in laser. It is important that the patient has had a PAP smear test and is not pregnant. It should never be applied in patients with abnormal cellular changes in the smear test and pregnant women. It is also not suitable for patients with BDD (body dysmorphic disorder) and excessive expectation levels.

The laser is also not suitable for patients with severe vaginal enlargement, uterine, bladder and rectal prolapse. Laser treatments should also not be applied to patients with uncontrolled diabetes, active HPV and HSV infections. On the other hand, laser is not suitable for patients with immune system problems, suspicion of cancer and high photosensitivity.

    Vaginal tightening with genital radiofrequency

In addition to laser, vaginal tightening and rejuvenation can nowadays be performed with vaginal radiofrequency devices without surgery or anesthesia. While laser heats the tissue with light effect, genital radiofrequency devices provide the same effect with electrical energy. Radiofrequency devices can be used today as an alternative to all laser applications. The only difference is that although genital area discoloration and genital wart treatments can be performed with laser, these procedures cannot be performed with radiofrequency devices.

You can call our Istanbul Nişantaşı office to get information about genital radiofrequency applications.

    Laser Urinary Incontinence Treatment

Laser treatment of urinary incontinence offers many advantages in terms of both aesthetic and functional aspects, especially in recent years.

How is laser urinary incontinence treatment performed?

Genital laser applications offer many advantages in terms of both aesthetic and functional aspects, especially in recent years. It has also gained a lot of popularity. In this section, laser urinary incontinence treatment is discussed.

You will be able to find answers to questions such as “How is laser urinary incontinence treatment performed, who is it performed on, what are the results”. Today, carbon dioxide and Er:YAG lasers are most commonly used for laser incontinence treatment.

What is Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI)

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is the complaint of urinary incontinence in women when intra-abdominal pressure increases, such as coughing, laughing, lifting heavy loads, or doing fitness.

Stress urinary incontinence may sometimes be associated with prolapse of the bladder or uterus, or it may occur without organ prolapse. When organs such as the uterus, bladder and intestines located in the pelvis (pelvic bones) herniate and prolapse out of the vagina, it is called “Pelvic Organ Prolapse” (POP).

Surgical and non-surgical treatments are available for the treatment of Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI). Surgical procedures include surgical bladder removal, original operations (TOT and TVT) and laparoscopic operations.

Laser is a good treatment for people with mild genital organ prolapse (POP) or true stress incontinence without organ prolapse. Laser is a non-surgical treatment for urinary incontinence.

How to treat urinary incontinence with laser

The patient is first prepared for the procedure, just like the vaginal tightening procedure. The laser rod is then inserted well into the vagina and the laser is switched on to scan the anterior wall of the vagina, especially at 11-12-1 o'clock.

The energy used is between 80-120 mjoules/pixel in young patients, depending on the patient's age, tolerability and tissue condition. During this process, the high-energy light beam produced in the laser is transferred into the tissue, it turns into heat in the tissue, collagen synthesis increases and tissue regeneration is regenerated thanks to the reparative cells that come to the environment after the slight bruising caused by heat.

The increase in collagen and elastic fibers increases the support around the bladder neck and urinary canal and provides a solution to the problem of urinary incontinence. The procedure is repeated 2 or 3 times at 1 month intervals, and if necessary, the whole procedure is repeated every 1.5-2 years.

Is there a risk with laser urinary incontinence treatment?

There are no risks associated with laser urinary incontinence treatment and no complications reported in the literature to date.

What are the advantages of laser treatment of urinary incontinence?

    Laser incontinence treatment is very safe and offers many advantages. These include;

  • It is extremely painless,
  • No anesthesia required,
  • Since it is not a surgical procedure, there are no stitches,
  • The whole process takes about 3-4 minutes on average,
  • No risks or major complications have been reported,
  • Rest is not required and people can return to their social life on the same day,
  • No dressing or antibiotics are required after the procedure.
  • Can everyone have vaginal laser treatment?

Every patient who does not have moderate and advanced pelvic organ prolapse and does not have aesthetic problems with the genital area can be treated with laser urinary incontinence.

Surgical methods should be considered in the first place in patients with moderate to advanced bladder and bowel prolapse problems, especially in patients with advanced vaginal enlargement due to childbirth. Vaginal tightening surgeries provide a permanent treatment in these patients.

Laser urinary incontinence treatment fees, prices

The cost of laser urinary incontinence treatment may vary depending on the number of sessions, the type of laser used, the treatment protocol applied, and the price management of the center. It will be useful to contact the center for this.

    Laser Labiaplasty

Labioplasty is an operation to reduce the genital lips and eliminate asymmetry problems. Labiaplasty can be performed with laser as well as cutting the tissue with classical scissors.

    What is Labiaplasty?

Although the genital lips consist of two parts, the labia minora and labia minora, the term labiaplasty is often used synonymously with labia minora plasty.

The operation to reduce the outer lips is called labia majoraplasty. In fact, although labiaplasty covers both inner and outer lip aesthetics, it is more frequently used for inner lip aesthetics. This section contains information about 'laser labiaplasty'.

    Who can have labiaplasty?

Labioplasty can be performed for different reasons:

  • If the labia minora are larger, wrinkled, saggy and larger than normal,
  • One lip being larger than the other (Asymmetry),
  • Excessive discoloration of the inner lips,
  • Labioplasty can be performed due to deformations caused by birth, bartholin gland removal, falls, bicycle or traffic accidents.

  • Sometimes labiaplasty may be requested due to psychological effects on the person even though there is no major physical problem.

    Is surgery necessary?

"Is laser labiaplasty possible? Is surgery necessary?” is one of the most frequently asked questions about labiaplasty.

The purpose of labiaplasty is to reduce the size of the labia. Although large, long or asymmetrical lips are usually genetically inherited from a young age, some women may develop them due to irritation over time. Since the aim is to reduce the lips, it is essential to surgically reduce the lips by cutting them.

    Laser Labiaplasty

Laser devices work by sending a highly concentrated beam of light into the tissue. Thermal (heat) energy inside the tissue:

  • Ablation (destruction),
  • Vaporization (evaporation),
  • Coagulation (stopping bleeding),
  • Surgical cutting procedures can be performed.
  • Therefore, lasers can be used in many areas of medicine. For this reason, labiaplasty surgeries can be performed with laser as an alternative method.

    How laser labiaplasty is performed

During laser labiaplasty, excess tissue is cut with a laser instead of metzenbaum scissors. Afterwards, the tissues are sutured as if they were cut with scissors. There are points where each method is superior and not superior to each other. The important thing is that the surgeon decides which method is appropriate for which patient.

What is the advantage of laser labiaplasty? Is there a disadvantage?

Laser labiaplasty surgery has very little bleeding. Therefore, the operation time is also shortened. However, the disadvantage is that healing is slightly delayed due to tissue damage in the area where the laser incision is made.

    The Post-Labioplasty Period

Labioplasty is one of the operations that arouses great satisfaction in terms of its results. A half-day hospitalization is sufficient after labiaplasty, which is an operation with comfortable post-surgical care. In suitable patients, the procedure can also be performed in offices under local anesthesia.

    After Labiaplasty

  • The person's self-confidence increases by improving the unwanted aesthetic appearance,
  • Frequent vaginal infections are decreasing,
  • The negative situations experienced due to large and long lips, such as pain during sexual intercourse, are eliminated,
  • Complaints of irritation due to friction while wearing pants are reduced,
  • No protruding appearance when wearing a bikini,
  • Complaints such as difficulty urinating or urine going in different directions are eliminated.
  • Labioplasty Doctors

Websites, objective forums and social media posts can be a guide for you when choosing between doctors who perform lipoplasty. We recommend that you have surgery after doing a good research on this subject.

Labioplasty operations are surgeries that do not yet have a place in medical and residency training. Therefore, there are very few experienced physicians working in this field. The knowledge and experience of the physician is extremely important for the success of the operation. Otherwise, extremely negative results may occur.

The technique in lipoplasty surgeries should be decided according to the patient. Depending on the condition of the patient's tissue, laser labiaplasty can be performed or classical methods can be preferred.
